Darrell Gray

Darrell Gray (1947-2016), longtime friend of Jim Whitley, was bass player for Chicken Hot Rod. He was born in Michigan before moving around a great deal in his childhood, eventually settling in Charlotte, NC in 1961. He graduated high school in 1965 and enlisted in the Army, and later learned bass some time after high school. In 2002, he moved to the Asheville/Hendersonville area, where he lived the remainder of his life.
