Hugo Barrancos

(Vallegrande, Santa Cruz, Bolivia, ¿?- Santa Cruz, 1995) Traditional guitarist with self-taught training, especially interprets the Vallegrandinos khaluyos. In his youth he lived in La Paz (1966) and worked on ‘The Saturday Show’ directed by Miki Jiménez. He recorded his first album in 1966 at the government headquarters, La Paz, under the sello Méndez ’label. 1969 was the year of its first long duration, which would be followed by 8 more, 4 with RCA Víctor and Lauro, 4 in Lyra and one with Don Gastón Méndez. It also has 10 small albums, with tails and couplets that he played at festivals. In 1969 he won his first Gold Record and then he was given ‘The Golden Microphone’ by the Santa Cruz media.
