Daniel Sheldon was a 15-year-old supporter of the emerging UK mashup/bootleg scene from Manchester when he started the boomselection.info in November 2001. boomselection.info was an MP3 blog that promoted mashup challenges for bootleggers, mixing and mashing recorded tracks to create new audio artefacts. In the few years of its existence, Boomselection attracted hundreds of contributors, thousands of submitted tracks and quite a bit of interest from litigious copyright holders.
