Софья Давыдова

Sofya Davydova (1875-1958) - Soviet pianist. Honored artist of the RSFSR (1935). She studied at the St. Petersburg Conservatory with A. N. Esipova, improved in Vienna with T. Leshetitsky. She began her creative activity by 1896 as an accompanist, soon becoming one of the best Russian ensemble pianists. She was an accompanist of F.I. Chaliapin, L.V. Sobinov, N.N. Figner, I.V. Ershov, I.V. Tartakov, P.Z. Andreev, V.I. Kastorsky, A.N. other prominent singers. She performed together with A. V. Verzhbilovich, L. S. Auer, J. Kubelik, E. Feuerman, J. Heifets, M. Elman and others. She is also known as an interpreter of chamber instrumental music. From 1922 she worked as an accompanist at the Leningrad Philharmonic, did a great deal of pedagogical work, contributing to the development of chamber performance and the popularization of chamber music.
