Joe Sanders is an award-winning composer, songwriter, producer, violinist, and vocalist based in Long Beach, CA. Drawing from an eclectic set of influences and a deep passion for musical storytelling, Joe continuously delivers unique, haunting scores that transport the listener to someplace far away. He regularly works in a variety of media applications including music for film, TV, mobile apps, and video games. During his time working professionally, Joe has been fortunate enough to collaborate on many exciting projects both with independent and major clients. On top of maintaining a busy schedule working with independent filmmakers, he has written scores for acclaimed production companies OSU Films and Wong Fu Productions, whose films featuring his music have amassed over 250 million views on YouTube. He regularly provides music and audio production for Humm.ly, a subscription wellness app that takes a unique approach to mindfulness practice with music specially tailored to each episode. He has worked as a musical arranger on productions including vocal arrangements for Freeform Network's Good Trouble. In 2020, Joe started composing orchestral pieces and producing pop tracks for Universal Music's production music library, which curates music for high-profile clients in media. In 2015 Joe was awarded both the Grand Prize and Lennon Award for World Music in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest for his video game ending credits song 'Kundiman' from The Last Arrow. This work remains one of his strongest calling cards and has led to many great opportunities. As an independent contractor Joe has frequently assisted other composers on their projects as well, including TV composer Mark Phillips' breakout album project The Black Operator which features heavy hitters such as Mike Garson (David Bowie's pianist) and Thomas Pridgeon (The Mars Volta), copyist work for Sean Callery's score for Marvel's Inhumans, and copyist work/score programming on Emily Rice's score for Miss Juneteenth, which screened at the 2020 Sundance film festival. Joe owes a huge debt of gratitude to his artistic family which inspired him to begin his musical path starting with the violin, every single one of his music teachers along the way, and to Mark Phillips for his mentorship in the world of music. He is a graduate of the Bob Cole Conservatory at CSU Long Beach, the inaugural Game Audio Network Guild Scholars Program, and the Society of Composers and Lyricists Mentor Program.
