Hermanis Albats

Hermanis Albats (also Albāts; 1879–1942) - lawyer, diplomat, writer. He has worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia, where he has held responsible positions. Long-term lecturer at the University of Latvia. After the Soviet occupation of Latvia, he was deported to the USSR, where he died in the Vyatka correctional camp in the Kirov region. 1903: under the pseudonym Helgi signed poems composed by Emils Darzins - "Mana Laime (My Happiness)" and "Mātes Gars (Mother's Spirit)". /Translated from online Latvian literature encyclopaedia site www.literatura.lv /
