Howard W. Mesecher

Known as “Mr. Barbershop of Davenport,” Howard W. Mesecher (1922-2008) began directing the Chordbusters Chorus in 1956 and is credited with bringing the group to international recognition. He was a resident of Davenport, Iowa, for 50 years before moving to California. After graduating from Davenport (Central) High School in 1940, he attended Shrivenham American University in England and Kutztown State Teachers College. He was a Sergeant in the European Theater during World War II and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame for Central States District and Far Western District of the Barbershop Harmony Society.
