Canadian/Australian musician (drums), bandleader & restauranteur (b. Winnipeg, Canada c.1912 - d. Sydney 22 July 1975) Worked in Vancouver/Seattle area bands in the 1930s. Came to Australia in 1937 as the drummer in The Americanadians. When the band went to New Zealand in 1938 it was billed as Sammy Lee & His Americanadians. Decided to stay in Australia and became a music promoter. In 1940 opened The Roosevelt, Australia's first theatre restaurant, in Sydney. Later opened The Latin Quarter in King's Cross... also involved in Les Girls, The Golden Horseshoe... which were followed by The Stork Club in Black Rock, Melbourne.
