Angolan socially conscious hip-hop MC from Catambor, Luanda, Angola, performing with lyrics in Portuguese. Known for exposing the plight faced by many Angolan dissidents, he often speaks out against corruption and has caused major discomforts to Angolan President Eduardo dos Santos. Also known as MC Kappa or simply Katro, MC K released his debut album 'Trincheira das Ideias' in 2002. His sophomore album 'Nutrição Espiritual' followed and was ubsequently banned by the Angolan government. Hence the title of his third album 'Proibido ouvir isto' (English, Forbidden to hear this) in 2011. Known for fighting against oppression and making revolutionary music, showcasing the struggles of the museques (slums) of Luanda, he was issued a travel ban and was forbidden to leave the country by the Angolan government in 2015. Two years later a young protestor was assassinated by the presidential guard for shouting MC K lyrics during a demonstration.
