American pianist and composer, a native of Kansas City, Missouri, later associated with the University of Illinois, specialized in contemporary music. He worked with John Cage on Cheap Imitation, and also served as a pianist for the United States women's gymnastic team. He was a close friend of the novelist Ken Kesey and also worked with Mason Williams. In 1986, Maddox created the musical setting for Oregon novelist Ken Kesey's retelling of an Ozark folk tale, "Little Tricker the Squirrel Meets Big Double the Bear." Born: 1940 (Kansas City, Missouri) Died: October 19th, 2020 (Springfield, Oregon). Maddox also worked with Mason Williams in and around Eugene, Oregon.
