Pierre Gautier. Organist, teacher, composer, ( Argenton-sur-Creuse, Berry, France, 29 Oct 1863, d Eastview, present Vanier, near Ottawa, 15 Dec 1940). Gautier has performed the harmonizations and / or arrangements, most often for equal voices, of more than 125 songs of French and Canadian folklore. On the occasion of Ottawa's centennial (1927), he harmonized songs from Charles Marchand's repertoire for the Troubadours of Bytown. The following year, his arrangement of four songs won him a special prize of $ 100 at the EW Beatty Competition, organized as part of CP's second festival in Quebec City. He wrote several masses, including a Christmas mass, and composed the music for “La Patrie”, a poem by Georges Boileau (1930). He contributed to several French religious music reviews.
