Alberto Negroni

Classical oboist. Born and educated in Bologna, Italy. He studied with Gino Siviero, Harold Gomberg, Lothar Koch, and Milan Turkovic. Alberto began his orchestral career at a young age, playing Principal Oboe in the Orchestra Del Teatro Comunale Di Bologna and the Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese. In 1985, chosen by Riccardo Muti, he became Principal Oboist at the Orchestra Del Teatro Alla Scala and in the Filarmonica Della Scala. In 1996, he left the Scala, to become Principal Oboist in the Orchestra Del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. Zubin Mehta was his mentor, and great admirer of his playing. Negroni has performed as a soloist in the most famous concert halls: Royal Albert Hall, The Scala, Carnegie Hall. In 2008, invited by Mehta himself, he went on tour with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. Alberto still plays with both the Orchestra Del Teatro Alla Scala and in the Filarmonica Della Scala. He has recorded for Sony, EMI and Philips.
