King Cotton

Singer and actor, Los Angeles, California. Born in Navasota, Texas, USA, as Richard Sony on January 20, 1945. As Dicky Sony, founded American roots-rock group Navasota in Texas in 1969, which disbanded in 1979. Adopted "King Cotton" handle (after Memphis King Cotton brand of bacon made famous by Elvis Presley) and formed King Cotton & the King Pins in Los Angeles. Gained nationwide recognition after Los Angeles radio station KROQ-FM started playing "Stick To The Grind" in 1982, which spent five weeks on the 1982 Billboard Dance Club Charts reaching #56. Later performed with group Cold As Ice and The Bonedaddys. Appeared in the films "Tapeheads" (1988), "I'm Gonna Git You Sucka" (1988), "Blaze" (with Paul Newman) (1989), "Ed Wood" (1994) and others.
