Scott Pierson

Scott Pierson started marching with the [a473043] in the early days of the corps and began teaching SCV in 1973. Scott's wife, Pat, chaperoned on tour and worked as a volunteer. Scott taught the hornline for the next two years and his passion for drum corps and music was evident to all of those who marched under his instruction. In 1978 Scott began his illustrious career at San Jose State University where he was the Director of the Spartan Marching Band. Scott always encourages his students at San Jose State to join the [a473043]. He returned to teach Vanguard in 1980-1981, as the corps won another Drum Corps International (DCI) Championship in the process. Scott has continued to be a part of the Santa Clara organization throughout the years as a member of the Alumni Association, a Booster and STAR Donor, as well as instructing previous SCV Alumni Corps and also as a member of the organization's advisory board. In 2014, Scott was inducted into the Vanguard Hall Of Fame. Scott retired from San Jose State University in 2017 after 40 years of service.
