Clément Canonne

Research fellow at the CNRS and member of the Analysis of musical practices team since October 1, 2015. My work mainly focuses on contemporary practices of musical improvisation, from a double ethnographic perspective (conducting interviews, documenting the work of various improvisers) and experimental (development of experimental protocols aimed at understanding the forms of communication and the coordination mechanisms involved in situations of free collective improvisation). This work is the subject of regular publications in various international journals. I am also interested in the philosophy of music - in collaboration with Pierre Saint-Germier, I translated and introduced for the Vrin editions two volumes of Essays on the Philosophy of Music by the philosopher Jerrold Levinson - and in experimental aesthetics .
