The Zekes (aka Stryker) were a popular dance band from Lewiston, ID. Both sides of this 7" received considerable airplay on both commercial and college radio stations in the Pacific Northwest in the mid- 1980's. The band was a mainstay at area clubs, colleges and high schools, playing a unique blend or power-pop, roots-rock, and new wave. This record, which has become sought after by collectors, features 2 early songs in the bands' large catalog of originals. The band changed their name from "Stryker" to "the Zekes" soon after this record was released and stickers with the new name were included with this 45rpm (original unused sticker included with this record). In the 1990s and 2000s, the band opened shows / concerts for many national acts, including: The Knack, Badfinger, George Thorogood, Tommy Tutone, Kansas, Blue Oyster Cult, April Wine, Black Oak Arkansas, Ozark Mountain Daredevils, Blackfoot, Randy Bachman, Mark Lindsey, Mitch Ryder, Head East, The Rangehoods and others. This record was produced by Paul Speer, guitarist of the late 60's band Stone Garden (highly collectable). Speer has had a successful 50 year international recording career as both an artist and producer.
