Sean Friesen: Vocals, Guitars Sasha Loobkoff: Guitars, BU Vox Chet Johnston: Bass Simon Williams: Bass Dave Chimo: Drums LAKE EFFECT is a Los Angeles-based indie rock band formed in January 2014. Its members have migrated from Montréal (QC), Berkeley (CA), Dayton (OH) and Buffalo (NY), respectively. Having met through mutual friends and related punk and indie music projects, the group officially began in drummer Dave's converted Atwater bedroom rehearsal space. (Crazed, homeless, drug-addled teenagers chased them from initial sessions at Sasha's shitty Hollywood apartment.) Since then, the band has worked to develop their sound (think powerful, swirling melodies), with each member bringing unique talents, backgrounds and creative input to the songwriting process. (Dave has since moved to a smaller bedroom in the back of the house.) Look for the band to be playing live throughout California and for a slab of vinyl to be dropping in 2015. The musical terrain is as broad as the members' varied musical lineages and is connected by a killer vibe that grooves as sweet as sweet can be. If you recognize the cover song in our set.... we are friends.... Associated acts: Sean is best known as the singer/guitarist of the seminal punk band Asexuals, as well as L.A. based La Motta. Chet is non-famous for lurking in the shadows with L.A.'s Lady Katherine and Popular Giants. Simon is a founding member of the Multi-platinum selling band, Goldfinger. He has often "boasted" that despite the band's commercial success, no member of the band made more than $16k in year. Hurrah to the rock and roll dream. Sasha honed his chops in the East Bay indie outfit Cutlass Supreme (Some Records). Dave played in Buffalo's Angels in the Architecture, as well as Solea, featuring members of Samiam & Texas is the Reason. Influences: Teenage Fanclub, Dinosaur Jr., Sunny Day Real Estate and, of course, Kiss.
