Intense drumming, explosive guitar riffs and invigorating bass-lines carrying heart-felt and passionate vocals have helped Forgotten Iris become the band it is today. Moving crowds with the above mentioned power through music, plus experimentation and willingness to push the envelope a little bit further is what the band is all about. The band was created by founding members Paul Stych (bass), Michael Montgomery (guitars) and James Furlonge (drums) in 2001, with the intention of having a bit of fun and playing some covers. Vocalist James Thorp later joined to complete the line-up, and the band was named "KroniK". Gradually becoming bored of playing covers, the band felt as if they needed to unleash their creativity and start song writing. After a few "interesting" ideas had been tried, the band began to compose material they could be proud of. This was first publicly showcased at a "Battle of the Bands" in late 2002 and was well received, leading onto the band (now called "Instinct") emerging victorious over the other five participants, and winning the competition. As from January 1st 2004, the band has decided to change names for the final time. What was Gossamer shall now be known as Forgotten Iris. Similar to the first song ever written by the current line up ("Forgotten Adonis"), the band thinks the name change marks an important step in its career, coinciding with the recordings of "Irreversible" and "Conversations Through Glass" at Outhouse Studios, under John Mitchell (Days in December, Funeral For A Friend, Hiding With Girls, Dury Falls, Orca). With "The Gossamer EP" planned for release later this year the next chapter in the Forgotten Iris story looks very promising.
