John Comer

Exquisite UK character actor. Started in show business as a stand up comic, co-starred with Peter Sellers in I'm Alright Jack, & featured in many TV shows with the likes of Diana Dors, Bill Maynard, & with Sid James in Bless This House. Known to millions as the workshy Sid, owner of Sid's Café in earlier series of Last of the Summer Wine. He bravely continued to appear in Summer Wine following a diagnosis of throat cancer, but was unable to deliver his lines, which were subsequently overdubbed. He passed away shortly after completing filming of the feature length episode in 1984. (1 March 1924 – 11 February 1984)
