British classical violist, and Professor of Viola and chamber music. Born in 1909 in Pontycymer, Wales, UK - Died 9 June 2000 in Leominster, Herefordshire, England, UK. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music. Already in the 1930s, he began playing in the BBC Symphony Orchestra, where he returned after the war. He served as principal violist with the London Symphony Orchestra (1947-1954) and The Sinfonia Of London as well as co-principal violist of the BBC Symphony Orchestra and The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. He played chamber music with the Quartet Pro Musica and The Virtuoso Ensemble. He also did much freelance work at Elstree Studios. Along the way, as a freelance, he also played for The Beatles, and can be heard on "A Day In The Life" from the album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. He was Professor at the Royal Academy of Music for 36-37 years. Possibly the same as Gwen Edwards (2)?
