Wermlandsensemblen

Swedish vocal ensemble, from Värmland, founded in 1982 by some enthusiastic and experienced choristers. The ensemble worked for the first 8 years without a regular conductor but was led by various guest conductors such as Eric Ericson, Gösta Ohlin, Terje Kvam and Grethe Helgeröd. Since 1990, Gunno Palmquist, professor of choral conducting at the University of Gothenburg, has been the choir leader. The choir's main focus is classical Western music from the Renaissance to the premiere of newly written works, but it also moves freely in other genres.
