Samuel Trenwith, born in Kadina (Born 1902, Died 12/08/1987), began banding at an early age where many established brass band musicians have had their training, in a The Salvation Army Band. In later years he was a cornetist with the Kadina Citizens Band, till the depression years when his talent was to enable him to become a professional trumpeter in Adelaide theatres, for the silent movies, During his professional career Sam played for grand opera, musical comedy, vaudeville and ballet. A challenge to him when he became conductor in 1955, was to write some original pieces for brass band featuring the various sections of the band, to create for them some additional interest.
