Sligo Creek Stompers

Об исполнителе:
The Sligo Creek Stompers play a raucous but refined blend of traditional roots music, which includes Appalachian and Midwestern old time and bluegrass, New Orleans ragtime and traditional jazz, haunted Irish fiddle tunes, classic country, and Texas and gypsy swing. Inspired by scratchy 78rpm records and contra dancing, the Stompers are keeping the flame of American string band music alive in the Washington, D.C. area. The Stompers work to stay true to the sound of the heroes of American roots music, but try to create a new sound by reworking traditional tunes. With a slew of stringed instruments in tow, they aim to delight audiences and passersby with their youthful energy and a firm grounding in tradition. On their debut self-titled recording, the Sligo Creek Stompers explore the roots of each members' musical community. It is a diverse album drawn from the lexicon of American roots music –– hoots 'n' hollers and boot stomping fit next to viper jazz tunes, scrappy Cajun fiddle, and layers of instruments inspired by old Decca 78s. The recording reflects the styles and places of the four musicians, each on a different path, but meeting at the same crossroads.
