A wordplay on "Universal Thoughts", the South African UTHOHT Production Enterprises CC was formed in 1996 as an events company, gradually turning into a recording label on the basis of managing director Vongani "Spex" Rikhotso's debut EP.
With additional interests in music publishing (Uthoht Music Solutions), eventing, website design (Pass the Popcorn) and clothing (Size3), its music recording division was re-branded to Serius Entertainment in 2007.
