Starkton Serie
Настоящее имя: Starkton Serie
Use it as "Series".
If "Starkton Serie" is stated on the label, this describes a recording process in which more sensitive cutting boxes were used (first used in 1908 by Lyrophon). As a result, the groove spacing has been increased to 75 grooves per centimeter in contrast to the usual 100 grooves per centimeter. This made the grooves louder. As a rule, this method was used when recording large military orchestras or brass players. These could generate the necessary sound pressure.
However, the new admission procedure also brought problems. Weak engines have problems playing the record through completely. Sound boxes were often too light (less than 100g), which led to a rattle. In addition, the thin tonearms and funnels were often overwhelmed with the volume. Natural resonance of the sound guide worsened the reproduction. The musical quality was also criticized by the "Monographische Zeitschrift" (9. Jahrg. No. 43, 22. Oktober 1908) and by the "Phonographische Zeitschrift" (9. Jahrg. No. 44).
Nevertheless, this recording process was well received by customers and retailers. After just a few months, most other companies also introduced Starkton records.
