Radio 2 Top 2000

This series consists of all officially licensed compilation albums in relation to the annual Top 2000 chart of Dutch public broadcaster NPO Radio 2 (formerly Radio 2), released by either Universal Music or EMI. The first edition of the Top 2000 was broadcast in the last week of 1999, as a way to sum up the audience's favourite songs of the past millennium. The week-long show was a surprise success for Radio 2, partly due to the Metropole Orchestra providing the hourly tunes and background music, and following this first edition the Top 2000 grew out to become an annual radio event, attracting millions of listeners.
