Vox Records (7)
Настоящее имя: Vox Records (7)
Florida private press label, operating from at least 1972-1973.
"I was living in Key West [circa 1972-1973]. I'd have to go up to another town in Florida to record [my albums]. I forget the name of the town - not Miami, it was a little lower than Miami. Vox was the name of the recording studio where they recorded me. They made the albums and put them in the covers. Three or four weeks later I'd pick them up. Then I would try to sell them. We'd bring out maybe 100 of [each title] or more... I probably just put “New York” [on the label] for legitimacy. That way it could look legitimate. That’s the whole point. That’s been the point ever since." - Bill Bingham, 2017
"I can't say I know much about Vox, other than that I've stumbled upon a few records on that label whilst researching a Fort Lauderdale recording studio and record label from the '70s called SRS International/Soul Deep. From what I recall, the Florida Vox Records was definitely a private press-type of thing, as the titles that I recall were either lounge acts from the region, or garbage comedy acts. I feel like when I would be searching for records on eBay etc. that may have been recorded at SRS, I would end up finding Vox stuff instead, and getting annoyed. Now I wish I'd saved whatever information could have been gleaned. I have a half-memory that Vox had a Fort Lauderdale address at some point, and that's why it kept turning up in my searches...but I could be totally wrong about that." - Gregg Turkington, 2017
