From "Billboard, The International Music-Record Newsweekly," Vol. 76, No. 27, 4 July 1964, page 22: "Hubbs & Barlow Have New Label - East Moline, Ill. - Lonnie Hubbs and Jack Barlow, promoters of country music shows in the Midwest area for a number of years, have formed a new publishing and recording firm to be known as Hit-Tone Recording Company, with headquarters at 2120 Fifth Street, this city. In addition to his promotion work, Hubbs has worked Midwestern radio stations with his own band for many years. Barlow has been in radio as a deejay and artist the last 14 years. The latter is also a BMI writer and has had several of his tunes published by Sure-Fire Music, Nashville. He is presently engaged in booking country talent through Illinois. The new firm is slated to release its first record on the Hit-Tone label in July, with Barlow handling the lyrics on both sides."
