Auto Union AG, Chemnitz, was the first German state automobile company founded in 1932. The logo with the entwined rings symbolized the merger of the four brands Audi, DKW, Horch and Wanderer, which, however, remained independent. 1958 to 1964 under the umbrella of Daimler-Benz AG, then takeover by Volkswagen and merger with NSU to the car brand AUDI 1969
