Alcas

Founded in 1981, ALCAS (short for Alleen Cassettes=Cassettes Only) was a Dutch company that released compilations in various music genres and styles on orange coloured cassette tape that were rented out to professional users such as bars and store chains. Later, from 1988 on, the cassettes were replaced by (similarly orange coloured) CD's. Alcas also developed and rented out CD players, multi players and music computers. Because of the Dutch origin of the firm, many cassettes and CD's feature at least one and mostly several Dutch artists, too. The CD's don't have booklets or inlays; the tracklisting is printed on the discs themselves. The cassettes and CD's were not for sale in shops.
