In 1945, Swiss engineer Erhard Mettler founded a precision engineering company in Küsnacht on Lake Zurich, the fusion with Toledo took place in 1989. The Mettler Toledo Group, based in Columbus, Ohio and with its main operational headquarters in Greifensee, specializes in precision scales for professional use.
