Silesian cotton plants n.p. [Slezské bavlnářské závody n. p.] were established in 1946 after the nationalization of the four largest Frýdek-Místek textile plants.
The first textile factory was established in Frýdek in 1832, it was a textile factory of the Frýdek Jew Josef Munek.
Other textiles were created in the 1860s, most of them were founded by Jews.
After the fall of Communism, the Slezan joint stock company was founded in 1990 by the National Property Fund.
Due to strong competition especially Asian importers and economic crisis company ceased to exist on 15 September 2016
by a merger with the Prague-based company TEXTIL INVEST GROUP a.s.
