Play (16)
Настоящее имя: Play (16)
Play was a club located in Hernani, Guipúzcoa (Spain) opened in summer 1964 under Young Play's name and demolished on April, 12, 2013 after having different names and closings, in order to built a supermarket. It had different resident DJs across the time, some of them were Monica X, Jesus Play or Willy Da House.
Construction of the macro-discotheque began in 1962 in the Galarreta neighbourhood. After two years of work, it was officially inaugurated on Thursday, July 16, 1964, although its opening to the public was on Saturday the 18th, two days later, and it was a complete success.
In 2002 the club closed for the first time, but months later, it reopened, on that occasion as "Play", although it only lasted two years and in 2004 it closed again.
There was one last attempt and in 2005 it opened under the name "Play the music", but it closed in 2006.
In 2013, much of the building was demolished, although part was left standing, albeit without the Young Play signs. In 2017 it was completely demolished to build the Lidl supermarket, which opened that same year.
Already in 2020, Mercadona opened, occupying the rest of the lot. As a curiosity, when paying in said Mercadona with card, in the bank statement it appears as "Mercadona Young Play", a wink for those nostalgic for the disco.
