Cotton Club Lubbock, Tx. The original Cotton Club, was a country and western club in Lubbock Tx, opening in 1938. By the 1950’s it had become a popular Rock ‘n’ roll venue hosting stars such as Buddy Holly, and Elvis Presley. The original club burned down in 1962, The club was rebuilt in a new location on Slaton Highway (U.S. Highway 84) but this again burned down in 1966. Was again rebuilt and opened in 1967. This club closed in 1982, only to be reopened in 2009 as a live music venue.
