The Hit Parade
Настоящее имя: The Hit Parade
In 1992 The Wedding Present released a new single on the first Monday of every month. Collectively they are known as 'The Hit Parade' (subsequently available as Hit Parade 1 and Hit Parade 2 LPs) but initially they were released as 7-inch only singles, each in an edition of 10,000, and each with an original song on the A-side and a cover version on the B-side. Upon the launch of the series in December 1991, the releases were marketed as "twelve limited edition singles". Individual release dates were set and were later printed on the sleeves too. All of the singles reached the UK top 30. As was noted in various music publications at the time, this revealed how few sales were now necessary to reach the top 30; in earlier decades far more than 10,000 would have been required. The highest chart placing of the series went to Come Play With Me, which entered the chart at number 10 on 10 May – the highest UK singles chart placing ever achieved by The Wedding Present.
A box in which all twelve singles could be stored was sold separately (and is pictured here).
