American Discothek
Настоящее имя: American Discothek
The series was founded by the Soviet regional label Atom Records (Volgodonsk, Rostov region) in the late 80's.
In the first 20 editions, the series was compiled with tracks mainly in the style of Disco and Synth-pop, by the end of the second decade there appeared tracks in the style of Hip-House and occasionally Techno. Editions have a duration of 90 minutes. The series gained wide popularity with the fashionable for that period style Euro-House from which, basically, compilations of collections since the 21st edition (early 90's). Since 1995, the issue of collections with full-color polygraphy on cassettes begins 60 min. Numbering on cassettes with registration did not coincide with issues without printing, for example, American Discothek Vol.3 corresponds to the city edition Vol.31, which contains 11 tracks more. Distinctive feature of urban issues was slightly increased speed of tracks. Sometimes there were 90-minute cassettes in the boxes with polygraphy, respectively, the last tracks on each side were not written on the insert. Also, the city issues were completed with a monochrome printout performed on a laser printer (from about the end of the 30th issue), and some 50th parts had a full-color insert printed on an inkjet printer.
Later releases were compiled by D.J. Tol and DJ Alex. There were 60 issues, there were no releases on CD-ROMs. The last issue was compiled by Alexander, the elder brother of D.J. Tol'a.
Due to the wide popularity of the series and the sonorous name, the collections of "American Discothek" of third-party producers that are not related to Atom Records were released.
