Standard Oil Company

Standard Oil Company was a common name used by several regional petroleum companies with a common heritage in the United States. Although once heavily used as a brand name, its use has significantly declined in favor of other brand names such as Mobil, Conoco, Chevron, Exxon, and Amoco. With few exceptions, records from any of these companies were issued for promotional/informational purposes. Today, ExxonMobil, BP America and Chevron currently hold rights to the Standard Oil name but its use is now sporadic due to legal issues.
