Shaolin Soul

French series compiled by Uncle O (Olivier Carrié) that initially featured tracks that had been sampled by Wu Tang Clan and other hip hop artists. Episode 1 was released in 1998 by Delabel. Episode 2 followed in 2002 on Hostile Records and Episode 3 on Parlophone in 2014. The series was revived by Because Music with Episode 4 in 2018 and a tribute to Motown in 2019. In September 2018, to mark the series' 20th anniversary, Because Music reissued the first three volumes. The series inspired Shaolin Sounds in 2004, 811627 in 2005, in 2012 and in 2016.
