Sonic Archives
Настоящее имя: Sonic Archives
Sonic Archives is a production facility which includes on-location audio recording, web design services, and functions as an independent label, working primarily with artists in the Pacific Northwest. The business is owned and operated by J. Free (whose legal first name really is an uppercase alphanumeric character and a punctuation mark).
The impetus for the company was established in Minneapolis, Minnesota, during the early 1980’s, as a lo-fi mobile audio recording facility which primarily documented live performances of regional and touring bands. Many of these field recordings eventually found their way onto cassette albums, demos, singles, compilation albums and CDs, which in effect, paved the foundation for what would eventually become a legitimate label.
In 2006, the audio operation was merged with a web design business founded by Faye Ackeret; and in 2008, Sonic Archives was re-established in Portland, Oregon. The business was legally registered with the state of Oregon in 2014; and in 2015, a permanent location for the label and in-house recording studio was established in Hillsboro, Oregon.
