Les Patching

Les Patching was an Australian jazz musician who enjoyed a long and successful career being the first full time composer employed on Australian TV, featured pianist with the Palais de Danse in Melbourne and enjoying a residency at the famous Stork Club in London. He was pianist and occasional vocalist for the Lindsay Copeland & His Quintette in the mid to late 1950s. He formed the Les Patching Trio in 1961with bassist Ivan Videky and legendary jazz drummer Len Barnard. Their 1963 L.P "Live The Cockpit" claims, on its sleeve notes, to be the first of its kind in Australia. It's a sophisticated mix of jazz standards, evergreen ballads and sing-alongs. The trio disbanded in 1970.
