Club Montmartre

Danish mid 50's jazz club and touring event. Do not mistake for the famous Copenhagen venue Jazzhus Montmartre. Club Montmartre was founded february 1954 by Adrian Bentzon's Jazzband and Anders Dyrup as a club activity in St. Regnegade. Later it would take it's activities to a venue in Esplanaden. "Club Montmartre" was also used as a banner for events elsewhere, e.g. 10686935 recorded in Aarhus. The club activity is a predecessor of the venue Jazzhus Montmartre as Dyrup would later form that venue also in St. Regnegade. Early credits for Jazzhus Montmartre may credit Club Montmartre or Cafe Montmartre but should still be tagged to Jazzhus Montmartre. Releases should only be tagged to Club Montmartre if they are mid 50's dixieland jazz or blues and appear as club activity. The club activities were closed down in 1963 as Club Montmartre disbanded.
