U.S. record label (mid-1940s - early 1950s). The first Native American-owned record company was the Manuel Archuleta Production Enterprise and was
launched in the mid-1940s by Manuel Archuleta. Archuleta purchased a recording machine and made field recordings of traditional songs at Laguna and other pueblos in the Albuquerque area, which he compiled into two album sets. These were released as limited editions with only local distribution on his Tom Tom label.
